…This ancient breed was originally kept to control vermin such as rats and mice, but over time they were bred for companionship. Their medium to short coat is stiff and wiry. They do not require much in the way of grooming because they don’t shed much. They do need periodic stripping, and their ears have a tendency to build up hair, which will need to be plucked regularly. With their terrier background, Affenpinschers tend to be fairly hardy, with some specific health concerns that we’ll be watching for as your “little ruffian” matures into your best dog ever!
